Kapa Hawaiʻi — Grow Community, Nourish the ʻĀina

Kapa Hawaiʻi blends a local Universal Basic Income with a community currency — empowering families, supporting regenerative agriculture, and strengthening island resilience through values of Aloha and Mālama ʻĀina.

What Is Kapa Hawaiʻi?

Kapa Hawaiʻi is a community-first model that pairs regular Kapa UBI credits with a local circulation currency (Kapa). Members participate in regenerative projects and receive stable, local purchasing power that prioritizes native stewardship and local businesses.

  • Local circulation: Kapa keeps economic value within Hawaiʻi Island, helping small farms and artisans thrive.
  • Mālama ʻĀina: A portion of funds goes to land restoration, native planting and community stewardship.
  • Transparent & community-led: Governance is conducted by a local council representing kūpuna, farmers, and community members.

Our aim: an equitable, regenerative local economy that honors Hawaiian knowledge and sustains future generations.

How It Works — Member Journey

  1. Join & be eligible — Apply for Kapa UBI and complete brief orientation on local values and usage.
  2. Receive Kapa credits — Regular credits help cover essentials and can be spent with Kapa partners.
  3. Support the ʻāina — A share of transactions funds ecological projects and community programs.
  4. Participate in governance — Members and partners shape how Kapa Hawaiʻi grows.

This community-led, place-based approach centers people and land, ensuring prosperity circulates where it matters most.
